Surgical Oncology

The Department of Surgical Oncology at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) is a specialized academic and clinical wing under the Faculty of Surgery. It is dedicated to advanced cancer care, specialized oncological surgeries, and postgraduate medical education.

Key Focus Areas & Functions

• Advanced Surgical Care: Performs complex curative, diagnostic, and palliative surgical interventions for solid tumors and various cancers.

• Postgraduate Education & Training: Conducts specialized MS (Master of Surgery) in Surgical Oncology residency programs to train the next generation of surgical oncologists in Bangladesh.

• Multidisciplinary Approach: Works closely with Clinical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Pathology departments to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based cancer management.

• Oncological Research: Drives clinical trials and research initiatives focused on cancer treatment strategies, surgical outcomes, and early tumor detection.
